About the Course

• Use of sewing machines
• Fabrics, materials, and supplies
• Weekly sewing projects
• Finale fashion show participation
• Introduction to apparel making (simple garment creation)
Student ICONS, which stands for Student Innovators and Creators of new Style, is a 501C3 non-profit youth fashion organization founded by Uniquka Christian. The organization recognizes up and coming, aspiring youth fashion designers who have a general interest in the lost art form of sewing. The purpose of this organization is to highlight future fashion designers and give them the opportunity to showcase their creations in various settings meant to motivate and encourage them to continue pursuing their fashion goals. In short, the mission is to bring the art and life skill of sewing to a new generation.

Student Icons was a concept began in California about 10 years ago by Uniquka Christian and was solidified officially in 2019. Uniquka has traveled to Texas with plans to take over the San Angelo and Dallas Fort Worth areas. The team all has extensive knowledge of fashion and is their passion to not only create but to share their gifts and knowledge to the youth of today. Student Icons hosts classes in person and virtual, as well as partnering with schools like Waxahachie ISD, Desoto ISD, and Red Oak ISD. We hope to partner with more schools and organizations to spread our love of fashion design. Meet us at any of our events or finale fashion shows.
